Jovani Hernandez Nike’s Zoom Vomero 5 continues to emerge in new styles.
Born in 2011 as a performance-running model ready to take on volume, the Cushlon-cushioned sneaker has enjoyed a successful retro run over the past year. A number of original colorways have returned to shelves, but the sneaker’s modern, often-tonal makeovers have transcended the athletic crowd for whom the shoe was initially intended. Co-signs from LeBron James have also helped the silhouette gain popularity within the lifestyle space. As the year winds down, Nike Running’s retro offering has emerged in another “Light Orewood Brown” finish. The understated tone sets the stage for bolder, but still soft “Light Armory Blue,” a hue that’s previously appeared on the Nike Zoom Vomero 5. Most of the silhouette takes on varying shades of brown and off white, leaving the old school sole unit underfoot to revel in contrasting tones. The midsole and traction solutions divvy up muted olive, light blue, and sandy hues, evoking images of warmer weather in the process. Together, each aforementioned piece helps expand the runner’s legacy 12 years after its debut.
