On the night of December 15th, four-time All-Star Shawn Marion was officially inducted into the Phoenix Suns Ring of Honor with her jersey now sitting in the rafters of the Footprint Center. Moments after watching his No. 31 uniform be lifted into the sky, Devin Booker walked to center court and presented Marion with a gift of the ages; his highly-exclusive Air Jordan 5 PE from his time with the Suns organization.
Rumored to just five pairs in existence, the Air Jordan 5 “Shawn Marion” PE was crafted for the NBA Champion ahead of the 2006-07 season with the Suns. Achieving both home and away iterations, Booker broke out the pitch-black away pair that sports vibrant purple and orange piping, cream-colored mid-foot cages – due to the material’s natural aging – and embroidered #31s that grace each heel counter at the lateral side.
To kick off the momentous occasion, Devin Booker took the court for warm-ups in Marion’s jet-black PE instead of suiting up in his usual bright orange Nike Book 1. While the latter was flipped into just before tip-off, Booker stashed the black-nubuck pair away until Marion’s enshrinement took place where he walked to center court and flipped open the OG black and silver box to Marion’s gleaming smile.
After being worn by PJ Tucker in late 2016 and by Booker seven years later, the Air Jordan 5 “Shawn Marion” PE now falls into the hands of its rightful owner for the first time since the pairs were presented to Marion in 2006. In the meantime, enjoy a detailed look at the pair below.
