The Science-Backed Nike Mind 001 Mule Is Releasing In Black

The modern rise of sports psychology has had a profound effect on the locker room. Just take the NBA, for example, which in 2019 implemented a rule mandating that every team must have a full-time licensed mental health professional on staff. In that spirit, Nike has unveiled its first neuroscience-based footwear line designed to help athletes lock in their mindset pre- and post-competition.

Here we have the Nike Mind 001, a mule designed to complement the Nike Mind 002 sneaker. The model features 22 foam nodes that push up into the foot with each step, allowing the feeling of the ground directly beneath to come through. This is scientifically shown to activate key sensory areas of the brain via underfoot stimulation, helping ground athletes and bring them back to the present moment.

This black colorway is one of several due out January 2026, featuring Hyper Crimson accents on the nodes to highlight the model’s core feature. See official images below if you’re considering copping.
