Despite the nostalgic sentiment of the late 1980s basketball shoe and its connection to Michael Jordan and several other NBA greats, the Air Alpha Force ’88 didn’t quite receive the warm reception from the masses like it may have been expected to. Attribute that to the fading trend of the late-80s basketball shoe, or that the brand dropped nearly the exact same shoe as a collaboration with Billie Eilish, but the Alpha Force ’88’s timing and execution has seemed a bit…off.

Still, Nike fanatics are reveling in the fact that every release thus far has been readily available at slashed prices. That’s likely the fate for the upcoming “Game Royal” colorway, which happens to be one of the original four colorways pictured in that Nike product catalog from over three decades ago (see below). It’s back in it’s original style and build, with the striking blue appear on the Swoosh, ankle collar and other branding accents around the shoe.

A firm release date for the Alpha Force ’88 has yet to be revealed, but expect them on nike.com for $140. As we stated earlier, these will likely be available at a fraction of the MSRP, so patience will pay off.
