Updated June 20th, 2024: Nike has officially revealed the upcoming Air Flightposite One “Metallic Gold” Retro on the SNKRS Live showcase. The shoes are confirmed to release during the upcoming Holiday 2024 season.
With the upcoming re-release of the Nike KD 4 “Galaxy” and the 90’s-themed GT series dropping during All-Star week, it’s apparent that Retro footwear is a priority for Nike Basketball’s current endeavors. Now, we’re learning of the reissue of another classic from the Swoosh catalog — the Air Flightposite One.
Originally releasing in 1999, the Air Flightposite combined the game-changing blow-molded composite material to a design derived from human anatomy. It wasn’t targeted at a specific position either as it was worn by forwards and guards alike, most notably Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan. A continuation of the Flightposite series spawned two more models, both of which contained futuristic, almost alien approach.
This iconic shoe designed by Eric Avar is confirmed to be returning this Holiday 2024 season in the original “Metallic Gold” colorway. It was last seen at retail in 2008, but has since been in the vault as the Air Flightposite One never really reached the levels of mainstream casual-wear popularity like the Air Foamposite One.
