The Nike ACG Rufus, Back At Long Last

The archival model hits shelves for the first time since its initial 2001 release.

The Nike ACG Rufus, Back At Long Last

During the inaugural Nike SNKRS Live 2024 preview, we wouldn’t fault you for initially catching on news around the popular models (the Dunk Low got nearly a dozen of its ’24 colorways tipped off.) However, by sheer quantity, retro models making either a genuine comeback or ending a hiatus were the bulk of the news, with the real heads paying particular attention to the return of the Nike ACG Rufus. Of the two colorways included in that showcase, one has now finally gotten official images, hinting at a release just around the corner.

In its new debut, the sneaker is embracing the outdoorsy appeal of its umbrella in its look. Outfitted in a two-tone arrangement of black and limestone, the latter is the more dominant, donning the outer sole, the one piece suede upper and the lining. Black makes brief appearances on the frontal mini swoosh and on the two part midsole unit.

As a model, these sit in stark relief to the comparable ACG Moc line. Though the seamless upper remains constant between the two shoes, the sole of the Rufus is anything but simplistic. The outer section of it resembles your general Nike sneaker fare, but the interior is marked by dotted, segmented rubber sections. Similar to the New Balance 327, the sole runs up to the midpoint of the heel, adding even more off-kilter appeal to this endearingly weird shoe.

The ACG Rufus is set to make its return to store this May, carrying a retail price of $110 and launching in men’s sizing. Between now and then, it’s extremely likely that the other colorway previewed will get an official announcement, so stay tuned for the latest updates. You can scroll down for more detailed looks at the newest addition to the ACG mainline.

Elsewhere on the Nike slate, “Platinum Violet” Nike Vapormax Flyknit add a rosy new option to the women’s exclusive schedule.
