Though the Jordan line continues to paint outside of the lines of the GOAT’s original kicks, like clockwork, hybrid models are introduced that while not OG Jordans, heavily rely on the legacy of those shoes. The Jordan Two Trey, the second such shoe that tackled the prompt of “all the championship sneakers” is back again, this time wearing its pedigree on its sleeve in “Metallic Gold.”
Especially in this glistening adornment, the patent leather mudguard stands as the central piece of design for the Jordan Two Trey. However, a careful eye at the rest of the shoe reveals that they pull from every shoe worn by Mike in a championship year. From the Jordan 12 toebox, to the Jordan 8 tongue, to the Jordan 6 jagged overlays on the side, MJ’s most famous kicks are all well represented.
The influence on those shoes makes it an easy mental exercise to draw a link between this colorway and similar ones that dressed their handful of ancestors. Given that their palettes hit multiple shoes in question here, the “Golden Moment” and “Defining Moments” pack are likely the first things that jump to mind, though some underrated styles like the Jordan 8 “Champagne” or even Jordan 9 “Doernbecher” would have a case in arguing their impact here.
