The oldest signature line under Nike Basketball, LeBron James’ shoes have experienced major success in their mainline- enough to spawn not one, but two additional offshoots outside of his now 21 signature models. While the Zoom Soldier series presents cost-minded performances silos, the Nike Zoom LeBron NXXT Gen AMPD is totally tech focused. In their newest “White/Silver,” the forward-looking functionality of his latest shoe stands out even more than on past releases.

While the white-out palette at work here is classic enough, the accents that dot the shoe at least allude to antiquity, a marble-like pattern marking the Swoosh. Taken alongside that, the winding exposed stitching that surround it evokes vine-like imagery, almost as if overgrown on the side of the shoe.

Speaking generally, the lack of color on these emphasizes the textured design constant throughout the LeBron NXXT Gen AMPD, from the woven fiber panels on the upper to the multidirectional traction of the sole, a 1-to-1 replication of a map of Akron, Ohio. As a final touch to drive home the prestigious atmosphere, silver appears in some choice spots. It anchors the laces, dresses the smaller, second medial swoosh and takes over the insole.

There’s currently no release date scheduled for the Nike Zoom LeBron NXXT Gen AMPD “White/Silver,” but if past trends for the shoe continue, they’ll begin a rollout to Nike.com and local retailers in the short-term future. They’ll command a $170 retail price once they do.

In more news out of Nike Basketball, the Nike KD 17 was just unveiled for the first time, carrying inspiration from other classic Swoosh silhouettes.
