The ASICS GEL-Lyte V Dresses Up In “Pepper/Black”

The ASICS GEL-Lyte V continues to march on as one of the most iconic tentpole models for the Japanese imprint. With their transition from frequent collaborative canvas to true mainline staple all but complete, the real heads can now get their hands on the sneakers without any of the hype complications. Up next in that category is the latest ASICS GEL-Lyte V “Pepper/Black.”

The designers behind this pair relied on a tried-and-true formula for the palette- it’s hard to go wrong with any configuration of brown and black. Those two shades of black and “Pepper” are laid out in the typical “contrast toe” colorblocking that have marked the GLV for a decade-plus. However, an aged, off-white midsole is complemented by a peachy shade on the crosshatch side branding and on the laces, bringing a brighter side to the otherwise nocturnal shoes.

As many of their most iconic releases were, the Asics GEL-Lyte V “Pepper/Black” is an a majority suede proposition, the one exception a slight leather stripe towards the toecap. That hardware detail makes the classy combination of brown and black all the more luxe to the discerning eye.

The ASICS GEL-Lyte V “Pepper/Black” is available to purchase on ASICS.com, coming in men’s sizing and running for $140 retail.
