The Cost-Minded Nike Zoom GT Cut Academy Goes “Barely Volt”

The Cost-Minded Nike Zoom GT Cut Academy Goes “Barely Volt”

At this point, it’s fair to say the Nike Zoom GT Cut series has been a massive success for Beaverton. The longest running of the “Greater Than” series has seen widespread adoption for casual and professional hoopers alike. In hopes of reaching those who can’t justify their $190 retail price, the Nike Zoom GT Cut Academy emerged towards the end of last year. It’s now adding to its young legacy with its next edition, a mix of olive, pink and “Barely Volt.”

As alluded to earlier, the most obvious change with the model at hand is its price point- holding onto the same on-court bonafides of their sister product while making them a more accessible proposition. To that point, those familiar with both will note a far more simplified upper here, eschewing the flywire cables and tinkering with the sectioned, mixed media construction of the GT Cut proper.

As far as the colorway, olive dominates this pair’s profile, but a neighboring “Barely Volt” amplifies its design, taking to asymmetrical visible stitching, and branding throughout. For one additional dose of energy, vibrant pink appears underfoot, painting the wavy textures of the tractioned outsole.

No release date has been set for this Nike Zoom GT Cut Academy, but a drop as we head into Spring ’24 is likely. Expect a $95 price tag when they materialize- you can find an official gallery of images just ahead.

Staying in the world of basketball shoes, the nocturnal Nike Book 1 “Haven” shapes up for a release at towards the start of April.
