A brand new silo to coronate the sport's Olympic debut.

Nike Unveils The First Breakdancing Shoe For The Olympics

More than ever, Nike’s performance gear knows absolutely no bounds. They’ve taken things from the trail, to the court, to the Great Outdoors- and now, with the Paris Olympics just months away, they’re folding in a model for one of the newest sports introduced to the games. The Nike Jam aims at being the first silhouette to cater specifically to breakdancers.

A low-top silhouette, the construction is heavily influenced by the company’s tech runner styles like the Nike Zoom Vomero 5. Boasting a similar composition of suede, mesh and leather, it conveys a palpable sense of motion, with arrow-like overlays drawing the eye to the heel. A 3M and nylon strip achieves the same purpose just underneath those layers. Additionally, two offset Swooshes dress the lateral side, one literally “breaking” apart with speckled white accents. The other on the midsole is upside-down when viewed in these images, but is correctly viewed when dancers go legs-up during their performances.

In their debut look, they dress a primarily neutral upper with hits of blue and orange. Thematically, it creates ties to all the new product revealed in Paris these past few days, with most everything clad in this “Bowerman”/”Blueprint” colorway. In a vacuum, it’s a vibrant choice palette-wise but a neutral one in terms of representing any one nation. While the model would certainly be minted to match any athlete’s home country, this pair specifically is fit for any international breakdancer.
