Matt Varga The Nike Cosmic Unity line, introduced around the same time as their Space Hippie initiative, brings concepts of sustainability to the basketball court. With the Cosmic Unity proper the first ever sneaker in the Oregon catalog to tackle that prompt, successive silhouettes have attempted to improve on both parts of the equation, enhancing performance while maintaining a “green” profile. The latest edition of the Cosmic Unity 3 strips away almost all color, opting for a comprehensive “Light Bone” takeover.
While the exact hex codes may differ, that “Light Bone” off-white paints these from head to toe. “Dusty Cactus” provides the only pops of color, dressing three literal Swooshes on each shoe, as well as in slight accents within the “Space Yarn” that creates a Swoosh from the top-down view. The two pads on the outsole bear the geographical, seismic-like traction pattern we’ve become accustomed to, painted in the grey speckle that indicates their recycled rubber construction.
