Matt Varga Returning in Fall ’23, the Nike Footscape Woven has pretty seamlessly (no pun intended) re-entered the Nike mainline. It’s a double edged sword, though- even if it’s now available in a host of fresh styles, the renewed offering now has to avoid becoming staid or overdone. The latest edition does a complete 180 from those descriptors, changing its primary construction to denim in a wild, unexpected new look.
Considering both styles that make up the Footscape Woven champion turn of the century styles, eccentric combinations of color are all but expected on the shoe. It makes the dominant monochromatic palette of this shoe noteworthy, but the denim construction here is of course the true show stealer. The “blue jeans” shade is continues through the woven sections that snake throughout the design. A literal rivet at the back and contrast yellow stitching throughout introduce hits of bronze for contrast. With Nike introducing a mesh Footscape Woven last month, it’s clear that Beaverton creatives are ready to get funky with the hybrid silhouette.
