The first batch of colorways went in a more personal direction, expressing Kyrie-specific stories through vivid palettes of purple, pink and yellow. For those tapped into basketball shoes, the outstanding question was when his Dallas Mavericks would get their own editions- something now answered by the ANTA KAI 1 “Playoffs Navy” and ANTA KAI 1 “Playoffs White.”
Both pairs are full-throated embraces of Dallas, splitting a “Home” and “Away” configuration across the two. However, the intricate Native American detailing and patterns constant across the silhouette aren’t sacrificed in the process. Neither is Kyrie’s new trademark neon shades, easily seen on the graphics and eye stays on both editions. No doubt, the profile of these white & navy formulations is at first glance more low-key. Yet details like the wavy, gradient midsole and gold anchors towards the heel ensure that they still carry as much flash and polish as the athlete they represent.
With each pair of the ANTA KAI 1 selling out upon release, these two pairs are likely to follow suit on April 19th. The ANTA KAI 1 “Playoffs White” will be the wider released of the two, with select retailers receiving stock alongside typical ANTA channels. The “Playoffs Navy,” however, will be exclusive to the brand’s website. Expect a $125 retail price for both – early access to the draws is available now via their website.
