The Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe Reimagined” Comes With A Special Shoebox

Updated July 30th, 2024: The Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe Reimagined” will be packaged in a completely new shoe-box featuring an image from an iconic photoshoot with Michael Jordan from the mid-1980s. Draped over Jordan’s shoulders is a pair of Air Jordan 1s that inspired this upcoming “Black Toe Reimagined” release.

We’ve heard rumors for years, and now details surrounding the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe Reimagined” are finally starting to come into focus. New images posted by @knowing_kicks offer the best look to date, highlighting thoughtful treatments drawn from the earliest days of Mike’s signature line.

The shoe stands as the fourth “Reimagined” original Jordan 1 colorway, joining “Bred,” “Chicago,” and “Royal” versions released annually and in that order since 2021. Notably, all four pairs achieve a “Reimagined” look through different angles; the “Bred” colorway features patent leather, the “Chicago” embraces pre-aged treatments, and the “Royal” swaps leather for suede. This “Black Toe” pair, however, doesn’t explore non-traditional materials, instead distinguishing itself through retro branding and a specific callback to Jordan’s rookie year.

Black “Nike Air” branding ousts Jordan Wings logos on the lateral collars, reflecting a pair seen in a 1984 photoshoot with Michael Jordan (below). On the medial sides, the shoes ode to a moment from Jordan’s debut season when he gifted AJ1’s to a personal friend, signing “My Very Best – Michael Jordan” on the left shoe, and “My Very Best – To Brother – Love Always, Michael Jordan #23” on the right. That same script typography appears in embossed red-on-red print across the medial collars here. Moreover, the tongue appears in black as opposed to white. Otherwise, the shoes feature traditional “Black Toe” color blocking consistent with previous retros, most recently in 2016.
