Nike Air Max is doing perfectly well, currently celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Air Max Plus while staples like the Air Max 1 and Air Max 95 benefit from metronome-like consistency. However, Beaverton creatives have never shied away from taking risks with the line’s most vaunted silhouettes. The Air Max 90 Drift is a perfect example, emerging in an “Action Green” colorway as we await the model’s retail debut.

Relative to the Air Max 90 Futura, another offshoot model that tackles this reimagined prompt, the 90 Drift goes in a more techy direction, replacing leather quarter panels with TPU counterparts and further refracting the sporty construction of the original. In this “Action Green” adornment, the futuristic aesthetic choices venture towards cyberpunk territory. Just take the the toe-box section; nylon ribbon peeks out through a translucent grid panel, itself concealing stark geometric design underneath. The blend of red, green and black at least hints towards the iconic Air Max 90 “Duck Camo” as well, providing a tacit callback to the model’s origins in this otherwise forward-facing adornment.

The Nike Air Max 90 Drift “Action Green” is expected to materialize this Fall, retailing for $150. Enjoy official photos ahead and check out our coverage of the other yet revealed colorways in “Light Orewood Brown” and “Triple Black.”

Shifting to the Jordan Release Dates 2024 calendar, all eyes are on JB as the Air Jordan 11 Low “Space Jam” debuts this weekend.
