Though Asics has been a player for many years, stretching back to the run of the GEL-Lyte 3, there’s no denying that the rise of techy styles has been a major boon. Arguably none of their offerings have been as lifted by that rising tide than the GEL-Kayano series, a once performance runner now a staple of downtowns and runways alike. As summer kicks off, the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 emerges with an extra hit of “Tai Chi Yellow.”

For anyone paying attention to the Y2K wave, the foundation of this shoe will very much ring familiar. It’s the classic combination of white mesh, metallic overlays and black detailing, a true staple of both the 2000s and now the 2020s. Though the impact of “Tai Chi Yellow” is felt greatly in the overall outfit, its application is slight, peeking through via the midsole GEL units and in scattered branding sections across the whole shoe.

The ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 “Tai Chi Yellow” is expected in the coming week in the Summer/Fall slate. Anticipate a $150 retail price upon arrival.
