A pseudo-sequel to the 2023 women’s release that shared the same material, this edition somewhat twists the formula. The jeans textile takes up the full upper, dyed to create classic AJ1 color-blocking. Additionally, uneven coloring throughout leans into a DIY aesthetic, rounded out with a classic gum sole underfoot. Original article posted June 3rd, 2024: Denim has emerged in the past decade as one of Jordan Brand’s go-to touches to bring a premium atmosphere to fresh releases. Following the launch of the women’s Air Jordan 1 Denim in 2022, word began trickling out regarding another take on the concept for Summer ’24. Official images and a concrete release date just landed for that edition, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Bleached Denim.”
Briefly comparing to that 2022 Jordan 1, the “Chicago” color-blocking remains in place, highlighting classic “blue jeans” material on the overlays. However, denim bleeds onto the collar and lower layers as well, where this pair’s title is truly executed. In these shots, it’s an understated effect, but the quarter panel appears genuinely bleached, the material’s original shade peeking through on airy streaks throughout. Navy denim on the collar and a gum-shaded, speckled grind sole round out the nocturnal character on this edition.
Importantly, these images continue a trend for this release in particular, where each successive set of photos reveals a slightly different layout on the “Bleached Denim” side panels (see our original coverage for previous galleries.) While reaching this “official images” stage usually means we know most, if not all, of the information regarding a shoe, we’re still awaiting word from Nike regarding how the differing patterns will be executed upon release.
