Andrew Rizzo Ahead of the model’s 30th anniversary in 2025, the Nike Air Max 95 has surfaced in a few different compelling colorways expected to launch throughout the course of 2024. While Sergio Lorenzo’s original design looks set to catch the apple of Nike’s eye as the milestone looms closer, there could be newfound potential in the weather-resistant version; the Air Max 95 Ultra.
It’s a shoe that’s come in and out of sneakerhead consciousness since it debuted nearly a decade ago, but as is the case for most re-tooled Air Max silhouettes, a familiar, agreeable color palette could help draw in more eyes. Such is the case with this latest “Black/Neutral Grey/University Blue” pair releasing Fall 2024.
Heritage DNA is made apparent through greyscale overlays, which move from “Neutral Grey” up top to black down towards the midsole. Save for “University Blue” accents on the eyelets and branding, the rest of the shoe comes painted in black in an agreeable design choice. Notably, in a departure from the Air Max 95 proper, the sole is dramatically re-worked with a slightly longer heel Air unit and smaller forefoot capsules.
