“Grandma’s Couch” Inspires Two Floral Pairs Of The Nike LeBron 21

Though the arrival of the Nike LeBron 22 later this year looms as the next step in The King’s line, the LeBron 21 still has plenty of time to make its own mark. The newest two-pack commemorates James’ family history, and puts some timeless aesthetics on display in the process.

Just on this releases’ existence alone, the “Grandma’s Couch” concept must certainly hold personal weight in LeBron’s younger days, but it’s easily relatable; who doesn’t have core memories of vintage upholstery from someone in their life? Heavy fabric replaces nearly every usual section of the LeBron 21, calling back to the EXT series that brought similar lifestyle-inspired looks to his earlier work. THe motif manifests across two contrasting palettes, one in navy & gum and one in sky blue & pink.

Where this edition diverges from similar outfits is in the 3D sewn detailing across both colorways, bringing raised pink & red felt roses that contrast their green counterparts that sit flush on the upper.  For one last touch, the logo on the insole caught our eye, seemingly depicting a prayer hands-like emblem wearing James’ 3 championship rings. In these early shots, it’s hard to tell exactly, but suffice to say, there’s plenty of fine details on this pair that elevate it about a run-of-the-mill release.

While the narrative ties here certainly elevate this release on a sentimental level, it’s noting that “nature meets basketball” is a theme heavily explored across all of NBB’s signatures. Notably, there’s been a slew of floral colorways that have hit the Nike Zoom Freak 5, as well as yearly editions on KD’s line (he’ll revisit the start of it with the KD 4 “Aunt Pearl” this Holiday season.)

These Nike LeBron 21 “Grandma’s Couch” pairs are currently expected to release on July 12th, 2024.
