Updated July 16th, 2024: adidas has officially unveiled the AE1 Low. Retailing at $110, the AE1 Low will debut in the “Ascent” colorway on July 20th exclusively on adidas.com, the adidas App, and Foot Locker. The AE1 Mid will release on July 20th as well.
Anthony Edwards’ shoes, the AE1, remain one of the biggest breakout hits of this season. A benefactor of a superstar turn for the young Timberwolf, the silhouette has taken a brief hiatus from the market following March’s “Georgia Red Clay.” As Ant prepares to tie ’em up again with the official start of Olympic basketball, his kicks are back in a big way; the AE1 “Ascent Pack” brings the public debut of the AE1 Low and a new colorway for the original mid-cut.
Despite their obvious difference in composition, the two shoes essentially share the same visual layout. A hazy mix of grayscale tones paints the full toe-box and honeycomb side unit, continuing through to a swirled outsole on either pair. It’s a light/medium tone on the Low, tinted darker on the AE1 Mid to edge closer to the all-black inner bootie. The release of the Low not only finally delivers on the hype around its unveiling back in April, but also pays off what was presumed to be a PE, donned by Edwards in a Game 6 semi-final thrashing of the Nuggets.
Both pairs in the “Ascent Pack” drop on July 20th; retail is set at $110 for the AE1 Low and $120 for the AE1 proper. Head just below for official images of each, as well as “Where To Buy” links that’ll have you covered on drop day.
