What’s down the Stussy x Nike pipeline is unpredictable, and that’s what makes this partnership significant in an era of predictability and riding coattails. Their next project focuses on a 1970s era running shoe that hasn’t seen the light of day in any shape or form in years, and it’s arriving at the peak of the summer beach-going season — the focal point of this upcoming capsule.
The Nike LD-1000, remembered for its waffle sole and mesh upper, gets reimagined with super-breathable jersey mesh uppers in Action Green and Phantom. Custom tongue labels feature the Swoosh brand’s mantra of commitment to athletes, but in the iconic Stussy typeface. Further Stussy branding is seen on the heel in that vintage font commonly seen across much of Nike’s sporting gear of the 1970s.
Rounding out the capsule is a full assortment of apparel tailored to where land and sea meet; UV-safe swim apparel, fleece loungewear, and breathable linen jackets will accompany this latest collaboration.
A release date is confirmed for July 12th at Stussy chapter stores in USA/UK/Europe, select Dover Street Market locations, and stussy.com. Korea, Japan, and all other locations will release the capsule on July 13th.
