The Nike Air More Uptempo is one of the most iconic and recognizable basketball shoes of all time, birthed in the 1990s and backed by some of the era’s greatest NBA stars; Scottie Pippen most notoriously. Now almost three decades removed from its debut, Nike continues to add new chapters to the Uptempo’s storied legacy by introducing the Uptempo Low for general release, set to arrive later this year.
First unveiled by way of a Triple White colorway earlier this month, this latest pair comes with a simple black and white “Panda” blocking scheme, maxing out contrast to highlight the model’s defining feature; “AIR” lettering comprised of padded mesh. Differing further from the leather overlays that grace the high-top, the base typography extends all the way down to meet the midsole, which elongates the text through white treatments under each respective letter. Additional differences include an updated, smaller jewel Swoosh on the heel and standard laces as opposed to rope pull-tabs.
Toyko imprint AMBUSH deserves credit for introducing the first batch of Uptempo Lows to the world through their collaborative project last year, but newly surfaced general release pairs differ substantially from the skate-inspired tooling prevalent on that quartet.
The Uptempo Low “Black/Photon Dust/Metallic Silver” aka “Panda” is currently expected to arrive Holiday 2024, but Nike hasn’t floated a firm release date for any Uptempo Low colorways previewed at the time of this writing.
