END. Celebrates Ten Years Of adidas Spezial With “By The Sea” Collection

What began as a passion project by adidas superfan-turned-curator Gary Aspden has evolved into a full-fledged sub-brand, and a highly celebrated one at that. Birthed in 2014, adidas Spezial is the archive-focused wing of the Herzogenaurach sportswear giant, focusing on the brand’s vault of archival models and storied legacy in the soccer niche.

In recognition of the 10th anniversary of SPZL, adidas and END Clothing are expanding on their well-established working relationship with a collaborative sneaker and apparel collection; a milestone of great significance to both actors.

Named “By The Sea” in honor of the many seaside locales in END’s home of the United Kingdom, the capsule includes three different sneakers. First up is the Samba Deco SPZL; a luxe take on the terrace classic. Key differences from your run-of-the-mill mainline Samba include stitched detailing in place of a suede T-Toe overlay, zig-zagged edges near the eyelets, and a slightly altered backtab. END’s pair consists of a blue pigskin suede base and green leather on the stripes and backtab, complemented by a gold Trefoil logo and “Samba SPZL” text on the heel and lateral quarter, respectively.

Pivoting to the other slim low-top in the trio, the Wilsy SPZL is touched up in a clean “Chalk White/Tribe Green” colorway. Nubuck overlays are complemented by a mesh base to match, with the green accent color fueling a vintage aesthetic on the stripes, backtab, and tongue. Concluding the capsule, the Moscrop 2 SPZL makes a rare but welcome cameo. An amalgamation of the adidas Raider and Infinity, END brings a sandy earth-toned aesthetic to its pair, complete with Cordura fabrics up top for premium weatherproofing. Co-branding is kept pretty conservative across all three pairs, with a tongue tag on the Moscrop 2 SPZL hosting the trio’s the only external END logo. All the insoles, however, come decorated by a co-branded END x adidas SPZL pattern.

Surely a top prize among SPZL devotees, the END x adidas SPZL “By The Sea” collection will be available in-store at END Newcastle on August 2nd before launching online (endclothing.com) and the brand’s London, Manchester, Milan, and Glasgow locations on August 9th. The Moscorp SPZL retails for $125 while the Samba Deco SPZL and Wilsy SPZL carry a $115 MSRP. See detailed images of all three options below as anticipation grows.
