As footwear brands across the industry roll out offerings that ode to Paris, ASICS has been a bit more reigned in with how much product they’ve contributed. By our count, only two shoes (that have come across our newsdesk, at least) bear that stated influence, an mita GEL-Lyte III collab and a mainline GT-2160. With the international games now in full swing, a three-pack of ASICS drops remedies that problem, set to land right before the Closing Ceremony.
While official word is that all three shoes are influenced by the “night scape in Paris,” it’s a bit easier to understand the “Fellow Yellow” or “Fiery Red” editions with that in mind. Both of them blend together nocturnal underpinnings on their DIVISION SPACE sole unit with far more vibrant accent shades layered on top, a particular strength of the former with its yellow-to-purple gradient. “Prussian Blue” on the other hand likely references the iconic Seine River and waterscape vistas, inverting the all-black underfoot sections to pure white.
The one uniting detail across all three shoes here is the geometric, triangular pattern that subtly peeks out through the upper. That print “references Paris’ iconic architectural structures.” It’s abundantly clear that there’s a real conceptual weight to this latest ASICS pack that should help them live on far beyond the legacy of just the 2024 Olympics.
All three pairs in the ASICS GEL-Quantum 360 VIII “City of Lights Pack” drop on August 9th, each retailing for $160. While you wait, check out official images included just ahead to get a full sense before they arrive.
