Original article published September 3rd, 2024: The legacy of Air Jordan has become one of the biggest driving forces in footwear, but you can’t tell any of the myriad stories the imprint does without the one that started it all. As the years have gone on, Beaverton has placed an increasing emphasis on recreating the construction of the Air Jordan 1 from 1985, beginning with the original high-cut before jumping to the Low starting with “Neutral Grey.” As this specific tooling gets longer in the tooth in its retro run, “White/Black” is the next shoe to drop.

Keeping to the simplistic two-tone look that both “Neutral Grey” and “Metallic Blue,” this pair prints a jet black heel cup and Swoosh atop a foundation of white leather and a steely grey outsole. Unlike those two previous editions, this Jordan 1 Low didn’t in fact release in 1986, instead combining the stiffer, raised construction with a reference to 1985’s “Metallic Black” High (a shoe that’s notably never had a retro release.)

The Air Jordan 1 Low ’85 “White/Black” is expected to land this October, retailing at $160. Stay tuned to our Jordan Release Dates hub for a more concrete date as we get deeper into autumn.
