We’ve seen the life cycle of Nike fan favorites play out plenty of times; as mainline, unadulterated versions get deeper into their time on the shelves, Beaverton will often unveil retoolings and reimaginings to either maintain energy around a silhouette or usher into a new vertical. Perhaps what’s most surprising about the Nike Zoom Vomero 5, just unveiled in the past few weeks, is how extensive a change it brings to the 2005 model. While we’re still awaiting a public release, a new colorway is joining the debut effort, combining neutral shades of “Summit White” & “Light Bone.”
As explored in that first revealed pair, the hardware retoolings here make for a true overhaul; new fabric lining surrounding the quarter cage, a mudguard that encircles the whole shoe, pull lace closure and a redefined sole unit. Safe to say, the Vomero 5 Roam takes its new trail shoe life incredibly seriously.
This “Summit White” colorway on tap embraces that outdoorsy lean in equal but opposite fashion, eschewing earthier tonality to paint entirely in icy neutrals, rounded out with a beige/grey grind sole underfoot. With the Vomero 5 proper carving out such a sizeable lifestyle market for its comfort, assuredly this hiking off-shoot will maintain that performance while adding durable functionality via the new additional hardware touches.
Speaking of, the redesigned composition here leads to a higher retail price; the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 Roam commands a $180 sticker price. The silhouette’s debut is expected for Fall/Winter ’24, but keep our Sneaker Release Dates hub handy for further dates & details as they come about.
