While it may not be the exact tech runner style so in-demand by vintage-loving consumers, the Nike Shox R4 has brought a different, maximalist side of 2000s footwear to market. The unveiling of pairs like the OG “Metallic” Shox R4 certainly tap into a nostalgic side, but as we’ve seen with the Nike Zoom Vomero 5, true success is achieved when you can chart a new lane for an old silo. The latest “Iridescent Purple” look might be the best embrace of that yet.
True to its title, the shifting, multi-colored finish comes to the Shox R4’s synthetic & leather composition on the upper, carrying through the cooler side of the color wheel with fuschia, aquamarine and teal notes all making an impact. The same gloss also notable overtakes the visible spring tech under the heel, creating some appealing depth when contrasted with the all-black trim that runs through the shoe’s extremes. Combine this look with the Shox R4 “Design By Korea” or the “Green Strike” edition and it’s entirely clear; Nike is beginning to get experimental with the Vince Carter silo.
The Nike Shox R4 is coming in men’s sizing this October 29th for $160. Peep official images embedded just ahead for a better sense of this pair ahead of its release.
