1989 is calling.

The Air Jordan 4’s Sister Model Surfaces In “Gorge Green”

Air Jordans dominate every conversation about basketball shoes from the late 1980s and 90s, but Nike’s archive is far deeper. In 2019, Nike brought back the Air Flight 89 for another retro run, a shoe largely thought of as the Jordan 4‘s sister model due to its identical sole and shared 1989 debut year. Now in the wake of collaborations with Stüssy and PJ Tucker, it appears focus has shifted to the low-top version of the hardwood classic.

Two general release Air Flight 89 Low colorways have hit shelves thus far, both of which exude a vintage aesthetic through simple dual-tone color blocking. This new “Gorge Green” pair sticks to that same theme, abiding by the league’s antiquated dress code with a heavy emphasis on white leather. Once again, the titular hue is pasted notably on the Swoosh, lining, midsole and various branding hits.

If you’re set on adding a bit of retro basketball heritage to your rotation, look for pairs to hit shelves during the Holiday 2024 shopping season for $140. Enjoy official images below and tap our Sneaker Release Dates page to preview more upcoming pairs.
