Nike Injects A Chilly Gradient Into This Air Max Plus Drift

Nike has unleashed more than a dozen looks for the the Air Max Plus Drift since its pre-Air Max Day debut, the offshoot silhouette becoming a frequent Nike.com and retail sight in the following months. Given the wider sample size, we can begin to draw patterns on how Beaverton is trotting out the silhouette, and there are some earlier parallels at play with the latest “Royal Pulse” colorway.

In its design, this pair elucidates a recent trend across Plus Drift releases of corresponding red & blue releases. This obviously exemplifies the latter, naturally pairing up with the “Sail/Red” tipped off at the end of August. Jump back a few weeks in our coverage to find the other half of this strategy, opposing “University Blue” & “Dragon” editions.

That said, the shoe is still plenty appealing without that precedent. Taking up the ombre mantle from its parent Air Max Plus, the TPU-heavy offering sports an aquatic blend underneath those plastic waves, keeping that outer shell to a staid greyscale mix. For one last dose of polar energy, the “Royal Pulse” and “Glacier Blue” tones that anchor the ombre mesh appear again on the tongue and outsole.

The Nike Air Max Plus Drift “Summit White/Royal Pulse” is available now via Nike.com, retailing at its typical $185 price point. Sizes are already selling out- check for yours via the “Where to Buy” section included below.
