Nike’s strategy of mass-producing popular models may have produced the short term wins they wanted, but could not foresee the long term damages of focusing on hitting numbers. The Air Pegasus 2k5 is one of the many culprits of this broken model, only the Pegasus 2k5 has yet to crack into the pantheon of must-have tech runners on the market.
Simply put, there are better, more affordable options from New Balance and ASICS, the two brands that are visibly owning the category. While models like the ASICS GEL-1130, attractively priced at around $110, Nike’s main entries in that trend is the $150 Pegasus 2k5 and the $160 Vomero 5. The latter continues to stay top of mind as the go-to model of this style, but the Air Pegasus 2k5 has been slow off the line much in part due to a lack of striking colorways and a pricepoint that comes too close to a clear-cut superior model.
Still, Nike persists with the model as more women’s colorways of the shoe continue to emerge. This “Mink Brown” colorway is an example of what people don’t want right now, but here we are. If you’re keen to these earther, dark shades of 2000s era runners, find them soon on Nike.com for $150.
