The PUMA Speedcat might just be the sneaker industry’s strongest adidas Samba competitor. Continuing its run in original colorways pulled from the archives, the retro motorsports shoe checks a lot of the same boxes, delivering a comparable slim-soled vintage aesthetic to a market hungry for Three Stripes alternatives. Following the return of original black and red colorways amidst a slew of more modern styles, PUMA is diving back into its bag with two more heritage-fueled looks on October 12th.
Standing out as a solid autumn rotation addition, the first option comes with a brown “Haute Coffee” suede upper and “Frosted Ivory” Formstrip. Its counterpart lends an icy aesthetic, saddled with “Team Light Blue” suede and “Club Navy” accents. Naturally, as archival colorways pulled from the 1990s and early 2000s, both shoes feature stitched PUMA logos on their t-toe caps. Moreover, the Formstrips are comprised of leather as opposed to suede as see on the aforementioned black and red colorways.
These are both set to release via PUMA and select retailers on October 12th for $100 a pop; a friendly price that serves the Speedcat’s ascension very well. Scroll through official images below and take advantage of the purchase links in our “Where To Buy” sections on that date.
