The New Balance 9060 “Phantom” Offers A Perfect Autumn Colorway

The dominant lifestyle shoe goes dark.

The New Balance 9060 “Phantom” Offers A Perfect Autumn Colorway

It may not receive the same collaborative love that catalog siblings like the New Balance 1906R or New Balance 1000 do, but the New Balance 9060 has a claim to being the face of the Boston brand’s tech runner wave all the same. Mainline iterations continue to line the shelves at local retailers each season, and as we work through the bulk of the Fall season and look ahead to winter, the New Balance 9060 is aiming at refined aesthetics for the occasion.

The reliable combination of black & brown, long a go-to for formal wear, instead appears on the dominant casual model. Carried through with a brown mesh foundation and sleek black overlays, the step towards more mature aesthetics is deserving of mention, but more generally, this is a far more nocturnal colorway than we’re used to seeing on the New Balance 9060.

Sprightly editions ushered in for past S/S seasons have been the norm, and even when New Balance has stepped out of that world, they’ve done so with extremely vibrant fare. We’ll have to wait to see what public reaction is to this new lane, but at least in our corner, we’re impressed in the early goings.

The New Balance 9060 “Phantom/Rich Oak” is expected to land this Fall/Winter season, retailing at $150.
