Original article published October 22nd, 2024: While Shox was a defining technology of Nike’s 2000s efforts, the spotlight more squarely focuses on the basketball side of it, propelled by an association with the iconic Vince Carter. History leaves the Shox Ride 2 a genuine curiosity, a vestige of the Swoosh’s efforts to position the piston-like hardware in the running space. In 2024, footwear trends align well with what the Y2K silhouette brings to the table, and we’re getting a new look at what Beaverton has planned for Spring ’25.

The second revealed colorway in this renewed run (following “Light Bone”) is “Black / Light British Tan,” radically altering the mesh-heavy build from that first look and 2022’s Supreme capsule with an all-over leather composition.

Further, each panel sports raw edges that mirror the orange tonality of the sock-liner, combining for a complete embrace of fine leather footwear. Before the model even hits the shelves, it enters the sportswear meets fashion discussion, echoing the design language of mashups like the New Balance 1906L or Margiela Salomon Mary Janes with an equal blend between proper athletic hardware and refined top notes.

Expect a $190 retail price once the Nike Shox Ride 2 “Light British Tan” hits shelves. We’re currently expecting a Spring 2025 debut for this colorway and the silhouette as a whole. In the meantime, enjoy retailer images ahead to preview what’s coming your way.
