It’s no secret: low-key silhouettes are more in vogue than ever. Following the lead of models like the adidas Samba or adidas Gazelle, each brand has expedited retro runs for various models to seemingly tap into that market, be it the PUMA Speedcat, New Balance 475 or of course, the Nike Field General.

In gum-soled looks, the Field General is particularly cast in contrast to the Samba or their wide catalog of soccer styles, but the model’s gridiron origins are especially a focal point in this look. Though it was introduced alongside marketing centered on the pro game, these are clearly meant for Oregon alumni or anyone currently eyeing Ducks tickets, the Pacific school’s iconic yellow & green planted on the upper. Speaking of, the leather & synthetic build of previous GRs gets an overhaul for this colorway, swapping to suede overlays for the first time in a non-collab application.
