Nike Brings A Space Age Finish To The LD-1000 “University Red”

There’s always a certifiable deluge of retro efforts coming out of Beaverton at any given time, but one of the more history-seeped ones this year has been the LD-1000. Following the traditional cadence of collab into general releases (special thanks to Stussy), the 1970s runner has slid into the lifestyle lane as it’s hit the shelves again.

For the “University Red” edition here, the vintage aspect doesn’t only carry through the silhouette itself but also with the colorway. Though this marks the first 2024 pair that doesn’t reference an OG look, it still relies on a timeless red, white, and blue combo on the upper, insole, and midsole, respectively.

A jet of “Metallic Silver” chrome running from Swoosh to Swoosh only doubles down on that vibe, tapping into retro-futuristic aesthetics that perfectly align with its ’70s DNA. If the point wasn’t sufficiently driven home, throwback Nike branding on the heel cup and tongue reference the brand’s start, ensuring you don’t forget the history you carry on your feet.

Retail images surfacing of the Nike LD-1000 “University Red” indicate that this pair is gearing up for release. However, with the Holiday ’24 window closing fast, it’s a safe bet to expect these to land closer to Spring ’25. Stay tuned to our coverage and our Sneaker Release Dates hub for updates on the retail price as we near launch.
