After a few months of silence following the model’s NBA Finals debut, the ANTA KAI 1 Speed has surged onto the scene, cracking open several colorways in Q4 as Kyrie and his new sneaker partner cap off a banner year. New images of another set to join that crop have just landed, clad in a sensible mix of black, blue, and gold.
From the jump, it’s hard not to draw connections between this shoe and the KAI 1 “Sacred Bond,” sharing some apparent similarities in palette, particularly striking with the injection of gum tones underfoot. However, more than just its color choices, this version of the ANTA KAI 1 Speed is notable for simplifying the shoe, eschewing the typical geometric patterns that have been a calling card of all the Kyrie shoes in this new chapter.
Instead, the toe is enveloped by a system of thin wire-like anchors, intersected towards the midfoot with more gilded tonality. Even by dissecting the shoe at first blush, you can pick out connections to the Mavericks and Irving’s championship pedigree. Still, surely official word from ANTA will reveal a more heady, conceptual narrative once this release nears closer.
Speaking of, this ANTA KAI 1 Speed releases on November 27th, retailing at $125 in adult sizing and $100 in grade school sizing. Check out official retail looks included below.
