New Balance’s Deconstructed 1906A Takes On “Slate Grey”

Likely landing in the US for Spring '25.

New Balance’s Deconstructed 1906A Takes On “Slate Grey”

In making their dominance over the dad shoe realm shift from a comfort-minded proposition to a fashion-forward one, the “Protection Pack” was a major checkpoint for New Balance, helping elevate their 2002R and 1906R models to inescapable status. To be sure, the Boston brand has never shied away from getting experimental with their most popular models, which makes the emergence of a second “Refined Future” motif via the New Balance 1906A less than surprising. As its first colorways land stateside, we’re already getting a preview of what’s coming down the pike with a brand-new “Slate Grey” edition.

Though the extended panels from the 1906R proper obviously set the shoe apart in terms of hardware, the stealthy, aquatic fare on tap here would easily slide in alongside mainline releases. Add in the vintage white trim through the sole unit and collar and you’ve got a full embrace of the same throwback tech runner trends that the 1906R has always championed, just with a bit of industrial, destructive flair sprinkled on top.

The New Balance 1906A “Slate Grey” has already begun cropping up at select overseas outlets, but a stateside release date remains unclear at the time of writing. Once arrived, expect a $170 retail price.
