As large a magnifying glass is placed on the legendary on-court history of Kobe Bryant, a never-before-seen glimpse into his legacy hits the newswire every so often. It appears that’s true for one of the latest listings by (legendary in his own right) collector Simon Voltaire Tan, aka depeche23mode, sharing a look at a Nike Kobe 5 “All-Star” sample crafted for the 2010 Texas festivities.

Most evident is the fact that this shoe holds onto the red and black palette of the widely-known “All-Star” but relegates its fire red shades to an accent role on the overlays while utilizing jet black as the base. In line with that, the Flywire that defines the quarter is outlined in reflective silver.

The wood grain pattern across the graphic overlays is simplified and devoid of the star outline from the retail version. The commemorative insole badge, stamping the game’s Dallas venue, and alternating lace locks displaying Bryant’s status as a “West” “2010” selection circle back to its ultimate stated goal.

All things considered, this is likely a pair created for the Mamba himself as an alternative to the publically-known version, something hinted at by Tan in his description and furthered by this shoe being listed in a men’s 14, the size worn by Bryant.
