Original article published December 23rd, 2024: While it’s got a long way to go before it joins the likes of the Nike Dunk or Air Force 1, but the Vomero 5 is seen almost as frequently nowadays as any of its more storied peers. Though icy streets and snowy weather means that most pairs will have to see the shelf for a bit (unless you grab the specifically tooled Vomero 5 Roam), Beaverton is embracing the season for those who are a bit braver, rolling out a wintry edition of the Vomero 5 in “Psychic Blue.”
The titular frigid shade is applied in heavy doses throughout this shoe, most impactful with the mesh underpinnings but also effective on the segmented midsole sections underfoot. That additional flavor truly does carry the colorway, as the rest of it remains in pretty conservative territory, a blend of black, off-white and chrome that we’ve seen countless times before on the Vomero 5.
As time goes on, and the silhouette’s catalog grows further and further in size, it’s clear that the strategy with the throwback model is to offer as wide a range of pantones as possible, and if you already dress on the cooler end of the spectrum, this one should speak to you.
