It’s great to see Carmelo Anthony get all the flowers he deserves. While his NBA resume may not be as decorated as his 2003 compatriots in LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, it’s hard to argue that the one called Melo had the most influential style and aura of that insane draft class. Case in point: the Air Jordan 12 “Melo”, one of the more sought-after new Jordans dropping this year.
Carmelo Anthony was actually the first signature athlete for Jordan Brand; together, the duo unleashed a long series of signature models, although his prime pairs came in the earlier years via the Jordan Melo 5.5. His Player Exclusive game was equally as strong, and the 2004 release of the Air Jordan 12 proved that with Carmelo on its side, Jordan Brand had a new category of colorways to dabble in.
This White/University Blue/Metallic Silver colorway is tied closely to Michael Jordan’s time at UNC, but it quickly got stuck with the Air Jordan 12 “Melo” colorway for its semblance to the powder blue Denver Nuggets jerseys. Anthony’s actual PE had his nickname embroidered at the heel, while the metallic eyelets were tinted in gold, but the retail version comes close.
The Air Jordan 12 “Melo” is set to release on May 17th, 2025 with an MSRP of $200; see a first look at official retailers below. Check out our Jordan Release Dates 2025 page for the latest updates.
