Will the mainline retro of the Shox Ride 2 catch on with consumers? That’s a major question for the Swoosh in 2025, propelling the model back to the forefront of their catalog two years after it resurfaced with the help of Supreme. Though just two colorways have gone public leading up to this colorway, we’re beginning to seeing how more expressive colorways can work on the silhouette with the Shox Ride 2 “Metallic Platinum.”
The construction of the model remains intact from what we’ve seen before, but rather than the simple palette swaps that precede this shoe, here the overlays take on a distressed, speckled character, with spotted black detailing radiating out from the midline before falling away at white-dominant heel and forefoot sections.
Underfoot, a combination of chrome splotches and a pink outsole simultaneously redouble the playful character at work with this colorway and add a reminder of the Y2K sensibility that fueled its bring-back. Though it’s novel for this model in particular, this traces (no pun intended) the increased risk-taking that we’ve come to expect from Nike silhouettes as they gain distance from their market introduction.
Look for the Nike Shox Ride 2 “Metallic Platinum” on store shelves in the coming weeks, retailing for $190.
Switching over to the Jordan Release Dates 2025 slate, the Jordan 3 “Black Cat” and Jordan 5 “Earth” loom as January’s biggest releases.
