One of the year's first retro releases emerges in full.

So far in January, the various Zodiac calendar collections across the industry have been the focal point, from Edison Chen’s contributions to the New Balance 9060’s. However, nothing can jump over the Jumpman in the category for us and our readership. The yearly Jordan collection is now just weeks away, and one of the capsule’s grand prizes has come into clear view with official images of the Air Jordan 5 “Year of the Snake.”

With a steady stream of leaks and early looks of this shoe hitting the net beginning in late 2024, there aren’t many surprises with its layout. A neutral foundation of “Light Bone” and “Sail” stands in contrast to more sprightly hits scattered around the shoe, including a peach lace lock and the iridescent sawtooth section that connects it to the rest of its peers. Perhaps the biggest discovery here is getting a close look at the tongue, sporting flush construction and a snakeskin pattern.

We likely don’t need to remind you of the colossal list of Jordan releases the brand has in store, but the 35th anniversary of the AJ5 is worthy of note here. This “Year of the Dragon” look joins the Jordan 5 “Earth” as novel outfits coming out of Beaverton this year, contrasting the OG and OG-adjacent releases queued up with the Jordan 5 “Grape,” Jordan 5 “Fire Red,” and Jordan 5 “Black Metallic Reimagined.”

Catch official images of the Air Jordan 5 “Year of the Snake” embedded below – the shoe is set for a January 23rd release, retailing for $200. Watch our Jordan Release Dates 2025 hub for further updates like complete store lists and “Where To Buy” guides for this pair.
