Air Jordan 1 “New Love” From 2007’s Beginning Moments Pack Returns

Should the Jumpman re-release the pack?

Air Jordan 1 “New Love” From 2007’s Beginning Moments Pack Returns

In the mid-late 2000s, Jordan Brand focused heavily on the Air Jordan 1, particularly the Mid model, on some special edition concepts and releases that paved the way for the modern-day NRG-style releases. The collaboration with Levi’s, the Air Jordan 1 “Alpha” series, and the Beginning Moments Pack were among these elevated concepts that heightened the storytelling aspect of Air Jordan lore.

In 2007, Jordan Brand dropped a two-pair package of AJ1s dubbed the Old Love/New Love aka the Beginning Moments Pack. Often abbreviated as the “OLNL” or “BMP”, this AJ1 two-pair set highlighted Jordan’s “Old Love” of basketball via the iconic “Black Toe” colorway, while his newer passion for motorsports was exemplified by sporty black/yellow “New Love”. These arrived long before the Mid was a thing, and the Jordan community considered this Mid-cut lower-cut style as part of the legacy.

Things are obviously much different in the modern day Jordan business; the Air Jordan 1 Mid, overlooked and derided by Jordan loyalists, is a major part of the Jumpman business. The upcoming re-release of the Air Jordan 1 “New Love” is perhaps aiming to bridge the gap because although there are many out there who refuse to wear Mids, this colorway calls back to what many consider one of the best eras of Jordan Retro.

This, of course, is not the first time the Air Jordan 1 “New Love” made a comeback; back in 2017, Jordan Brand first re-released this black/yellow edition as a solo act.

Firm release date info has not yet been revealed, but these should arrive soon on Nike.com for $135. Check out our Jordan Release Dates page to stay in tune with this drop.
