The very first colorways of Mike’s first signature have always loomed large over the model’s ensuing history, but that feels truer than ever in 2025. The marketing push behind the Air Jordan 1 “Bred” proper is one example, yet the Jumpman seemingly has more ways to iterate on the AJ1’s most venerated looks. It may not be an earnest “reimagined” release but the same energy still courses through the women’s Air Jordan 1 “Varsity Red,” set to hit shelves for Q2.
“Satin” series releases typically hit the streets on a yearly basis in female exclusive makeups, but the shoe at hand charts a new aesthetic. “Cracked leather” seems to be guiding light for this design a la some of those “Reimagined” releases, but a close eye reveals that it’s actually metallic foil that creates the lava-like panels at the forefoot, collar and heel counter. On top of that eye-catching detailing, the Wings logo sits pronounced on the collar, given a matte finish and tactile plastic hardware.
Outside of that, the layout of black and red essentially replicates that well-recieved 2018 “Bred Toe” pair one-to-one. At least in these initial shots, the only divergence outside of materials being the pure white foundation, notable given the off-white tones used on the original pair.
