After months of confusion about whether the shoe would retro in 2025, the “Flu Game” Jordan 12s finally have a release date. March 1st will mark the colorway’s return to shelves for the first time in nearly a decade.

The black and red Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game” truly needs no introduction. The Chicago-rooted design is plenty clean on its own, but it’s what Mike accomplished in the shoe that makes it one of the most memorable original Jordan colorways of all time. Battling severe illness, Mike dropped 38 points on the Utah Jazz in game five of the 1997 NBA finals in the sneaker. We now know from The Last Dance that MJ was most likely sick with food poisoning, but let’s be honest; “Food Poisoning 12s” sounds awful.

It will be really interesting to see how the shoe performs at retail, although the recent performance of the Air Jordan 5 “Black Metallic Reimagined” suggests that these will be a hotly coveted release. The Air Jordan 12 holds a special place among OG sneakerheads who remember MJ’s playing days, but it’s unclear if younger generations will connect with the lore in the same way. Seeing “Flu Game” 12s sit might be a discomforting sight for the older crowd, but time will tell how consumers respond in the end.

Expect a release on March 1st, 2025 in full family sizes; a detailed gallery of the shoes is just ahead. For more on upcoming Jumpman updates, head to our Jordan Release Dates page.
