We’ve surpassed 100 distinct colorways of the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 in its renewed run, yet with tech runners still holding onto a moment in the sneaker consciousness, tacking another 100 on doesn’t seem out of the question. One thing is for certain, though, if it’s to reach that mark, Nike will need to innovate on the Bowerman Series silhouette rather than rest on its laurels. The fresh color-blocking scheme displayed on the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 “Copper Moon” at hand is a good sign in that regard.
Check these two recent pairs for layouts that we’d consider more-or-less “default” for the running shoe, and certainly in comparison, this edition marks some new territory. The TPU quarter cage and outsole are paired in titular “Copper Moon,” itself marking a divergence from the chromed-out aesthetics we expect from any tech runner. To be sure, hits of dark grey at the heel and forefoot and a white foundation ensure this doesn’t step too far out of the box, but any contrast is welcome given how inescapable the silhouette has become.
The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 “Copper Moon” doesn’t carry a concrete release date — in lieu of one, anticipate the shoe hitting shelves and Nike.com for $160 in the near future.
