Matt Varga As the Chicago Bulls jettisoned Zach LaVine out of the Windy City, taking on a future-facing trajectory in the process, many eyes in Chicago are now squarely focused on the development of Matas Buzelis. However, you don’t need to take on a five-year view for the Lithuanian rookie to command attention — he’ll do exactly that as one of the 2025 Dunk Contest participants. Reebok has just announced that he’ll take the court in style, revealing four PEs of the Engine A.
Understandably, Buzelis and Reebok have multiple options on tap for All-Star Saturday night with aims at going the distance in the contest. Each pair taps into a different section of the rookie’s origin story, beginning with an ode to his Lithuanian heritage. The burnt orange colorway evokes some of the country’s most iconic landmarks like Trakai Castle and the Gedimanis Castle Tower, each also reflected on a “stepping stone” insole. From there, the Engine A executes a pretty classic colorway, the red, white, and light blue of the Chicago state flag, carrying dual significance as it’s also his home state.
Jump to the mismatched hot pink and yellow pairs for a further dedication to family, where the Engine A serves as a shoutout to his siter Sophia. Matas pins some of sister’s lasting words of encouragement across similarly alternating insoles, reading “If you weren’t ready, you wouldn’t have the opportunity.” Finally, the Reebok silhouette electrifies with a “shared” PE, issued to both the Bulls phenom and former teammate Dink Pate, representing their shared history as members of the G-League Ignite.
