Beloved “UNC” Wraps The Polarizing Jordan Nu Retro 1 Golf

In one of the stranger sneaker stories in recent memory, Jordan Brand has turned the polarizing Jordan Nu Retro 1 from the early 2000s into a golf shoe. Following a three-pack of essential colorways in January, the model is touching down in “UNC” makeup on March 7th.

Calling the Jordan Nu Retro 1 “polarizing” might be putting it lightly. The often clowned-on “Frankenstein” model looks like a Jordan 1 Low gone wild, standing out with an oversized Wings logo that’s split up between two panels over the quarter. The Golf version features circular spokes on the outsole, thus enhancing the shoe’s grip on wet grass and the like.

Model aside, white and “University Blue” colorways are a natural match for any Jordan Brand golf shoe. Michael Jordan was introduced to the sport by a friend who was on the UNC golf team, indirectly helping produce the extensive Jordan Golf catalog we know today.

The “UNC” Jordan Nu Retro 1 Golf retails for $150 and will be available on March 7th via the Nike website. See official images below if you’re moved to cop a pair before your next tee time.
