New Balance’s stranglehold over the lifestyle shoes market begins with the New Balance 9060, a shoe that you’ll see on the feet of nearly every major demo walking through any major US city. While you’ll see plenty of eye-catching editions in those settings, don’t sleep on the silhouette’s ability to take on more reserved fare as well, evidenced by the “Pearl Grey” New Balance 9060 edition at hand.

Though this pair begins in pretty digestible territory, it’s the color-blocking that truly makes this a standout. A split scheme plays out across the shoe, bisected in the middle of the “N” logo at the quarter. In either half, the “Pearl Grey” and cream notes invert, jumping from mesh to suede overlays and vice versa. The result is a swirling, blending overall look, achieving that aforementioned eye-catching appeal through novel structural means.
